Mary Charette Art Work

Learning to play the piano is an enriching experience that allows children of any age to express their creativity. Piano lessons help to develop abstract thinking, problem solving, listening and time management skills while also boosting confidence and self-esteem. Instructor Mary Charette strives to make learning to play the piano a fun and rewarding experience that allows each child to communicate their individuality through music.

The Instructor

Mary Charette began her musical studies at the age of 8 in Sarnia, Ontario. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music and received Associate Diplomas in both Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance. She continued on with a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Western Ontario and Masters of Music degree from The University of Michigan. Mary has 25 years of piano teaching experience and has worked with students of all ages from young beginners up to diploma level.

Outside of teaching, Mary is a successful jewellery designer and artist. She is also an avid gardener, knitter and opera enthusiast.

The Studio

Mary Charette's piano and art studio is located in West Vancouver at 1055 Braeside Street. Parking is available on the street.

Philosophy

Mary focuses her lessons on three aspects of playing piano:

  1. Proficient reading and understanding of musical concepts
  2. Strong technical facility and co-ordination
  3. Aural skills and improvisation
